Rockstar has issued a statement regarding the launch state of the GTA Trilogy - Definitive Edition, admitting that they didn't launch in the right state, asking players to be respectful of the developers, and offering those who own the trilogy the original games for free on the Rockstar Launcher.

The GTA Trilogy - Definitive Edition launched earlier in the month and was instantly hit with a wave of negative reviews and poor reception from fans thanks to its poor state and tons of bugs. Although the trilogy was remastered by Grove Street Games, players have been expecting some sort of response from Rockstar over the poor quality.

After a week of silence, Rockstar has finally acknowledged the launch condition of the GTA Trilogy, admitting that it doesn't meet its "standards of quality", and requesting that fans don't send death threats to Grove Street Games

The statement begins, "Firstly, we want to sincerely apologize to everyone who has encountered issues playing these games. The Grand Theft Auto series — and the games that make up this iconic trilogy — are as special to us as we know they are to fans around the world. The updated versions of these classic games did not launch in a state that meets our own standards of quality, or the standards our fans have come to expect."

Rockstar then promises that fixes are coming in the form of a title update that will be given a date closer to its launch. It then acknowledges the harassment that some developers are facing, requesting that fans leave them alone, "In the meantime, it pains us to mention that we are hearing reports of members of the development teams being harassed on social media. We would kindly ask our community to please maintain a respectful and civil discourse around this release as we work through these issues."

Finally, Rockstar reverses its decision to remove the original versions, saying "we also understand that some of you would still like to have the previous classic versions available for purchase". Anyone who has purchased the GTA Trilogy will get the classic versions as a free bundle.
